Ex Minister Manish Grover witnesses stunning Play Performance in DLC SUPVA on 23-05-2025
The Department of Acting, Faculty of Film & Television, DLC State University of Performing
and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA), continued its acclaimed staging of Samuel Beckett’s Waiting
for Godot with a compelling second-day performance in the university’s mini-auditorium.
The event was graced by the presence of Sh. Manish Grover, Former Minister of Urban
Development and Cooperation, Government of Haryana, who deeply appreciated the
powerful performances by the acting students. Prof. Shree Prakash Singh, Hon’ble Vice-
Chancellor of DLC SUPVA, also attended the performance to extend his encouragement and
support to the students and faculty.
Sh. Manish Grover, visibly impressed by the play, lauded the university’s commitment to
fostering cultural and intellectual expression through theatre. He said, “I was truly moved by
the brilliance and maturity shown by the students of DLC SUPVA. Their performance was not
only artistically rich but also emotionally profound. Such initiatives are essential to build a
thinking and expressive youth.”
“Theatre has always been a mirror to society and a platform for critical thought. Witnessing
this performance was a reminder of the power of theatre in shaping thoughtful individuals. I
congratulate the Department of Acting for bringing this profound work to life with such
sensitivity and insight,” remarked Prof. Shree Prakash Singh, Vice-Chancellor, DLC SUPVA.
DLC SUPVA continues to affirm its commitment to the arts, critical engagement, and
nurturing future leaders in the creative and performing fields.
He also affirmed university’s commitment to the arts, critical engagement, and nurturing
future leaders in the creative and performing fields.
Registrar Dr Gunjan Malik urged the students to continue exploring new horizons in learning
and creativity and make their and university’s name known worldwide. All senior faculty
members including Head of Film & TV Mahesh TP were present at the occasion.
Waiting for Godot, often hailed as a cornerstone of modernist theatre, revolves around two
central characters—Vladimir and Estragon—who wait endlessly and fruitlessly for the
mysterious Godot. With its minimalist action and razor-sharp dialogue, the play explores
themes of existential uncertainty, the futility of human effort, and the persistent search for
meaning.
This production, directed by Dr. Savita Rani, alumna of the National School of Drama,
features four sixth-semester acting students of DLC SUPVA and is part of the department’s
Annual Theatre Production series. The final show is scheduled for 24 May at 4:30 PM, open
to the public at the mini-auditorium.
