DLC SUPVA Marks Independence Day with Inclusivity, Reflection, and Renewed Vision
Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA) celebrated
Independence Day with a blend of solemnity, inclusivity, and forward-looking vision. Vice-
Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya unfurled the national flag on campus today, joined for the first
time by members of the university’s D-category staff, including gardeners, peons, security
personnel, and housekeeping staff — a symbolic gesture honouring their integral role in the
institution’s growth.
The day’s proceedings began with Dr. Arya paying floral homage to the revered poet and
cultural icon Dada Lakhmi Chand at his bust in the campus, accompanied by Registrar Dr.
Gunjan Malik and senior faculty members. In another first, the Vice-Chancellor invited
faculty members to share their thoughts with the gathering on this occasion. They
expressed deep appreciation for the changing work culture under Dr. Arya’s leadership,
noting his success in fast-tracking administrative processes and spearheading an ambitious
outreach campaign that has brought prominent personalities from across the Indian media
industry and other fields to the campus to inspire both students and faculty.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Arya commended the collective efforts that made the recently
concluded week-long Tiranga Mahotsav and Foundation Day celebrations a resounding
success. He urged colleagues to see freedom not merely as a national legacy but as a
personal responsibility — a tool for self-improvement and for positively impacting the lives
of those around them. “Freedom must reflect in our ability to grow, to innovate, and to
make meaningful contributions to society. That is how we truly honour it,” he said,
reiterating his vision of transforming DLC SUPVA into a world-class centre for vocational
training.
He further said, ““Our university’s strength lies not just in its infrastructure or academic
programmes, but in its people — from the professors shaping young minds to the staff
ensuring that every corner of this campus runs smoothly. Today’s celebration is a reminder
that progress is always a collective journey, and every role, however small it may seem,
contributes to the larger success story of DLC SUPVA.”
In a warm, personal gesture, Dr. Arya distributed sweets to all faculty and staff members
himself. The occasion also saw Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik thanking the Vice-Chancellor for
scheduling the Alumni Meet in November, which she said would further strengthen the
bond between the university and its growing community of achievers.
The celebrations concluded on a note of unity and optimism, underscoring DLC SUPVA’s
commitment to excellence, inclusivity, and its cultural roots, while embracing a global vision
for the future.
