International Yoga Day Celebrated at DLC SUPVA | 21 June 2025

DLC SUPVA celebrated the International Yoga Day today with great fervour and dedication. The event witnessed a large gathering of students, faculty, and staff, all coming together to promote physical and mental well-being through the practice of yoga. The International Yoga Day, designated by the United Nations General Assembly, is celebrated annually on June 21st to raise awareness about the numerous benefits of yoga and its positive impact on individuals and society as a whole. This year also the university took an active role in commemorating this global event, emphasizing the importance of incorporating yoga into daily lives. Led by Vice-Chancellor Dr Amit Arya, Registrar Dr Gunjan Malik and all senior faculty members were present at the event. In the morning, a vibrant yoga session was conducted by experienced yoga instructor Sh Shambhu Yogi, who guided participants through various asanas, pranayama, and meditation exercises. He also shared his knowledge and insights, enlightening the participants about the profound impact yoga can have on physical fitness, mental clarity, and overall well-being. The serene campus grounds served as the perfect setting for students, faculty, and staff to unite and immerse themselves in the holistic practice of yoga. Vice-Chancellor Dr Amit Arya emphasized on the importance of Yoga. He said, "We are delighted to have celebrated the International Yoga Day with such enthusiasm and participation from our university community. Yoga is not just a physical exercise; it is a way of life that fosters mental and emotional well-being. It has incredible transformative power. By organizing this event, we aimed to inspire our students, faculty, and staff to incorporate yoga into their daily routines and experience the transformative power it offers." He also said that through the International Yoga Day celebration we demonstrate our commitment to provide holistic education and to promoting a healthy and balanced lifestyle among our students and staff. Specially made Yoga T-Shirts were also distributed to everyone on the occasion. Also, as a part of Nasha Mukt Bharat Pakhwada (12th -26th June), everyone was administered the oath of not indulging in drugs, alcohol, smoking or any kind of intoxication.
