Noted Journalist Dr. Amit Arya Appointed as Vice-Chancellor of DLC SUPVA,Rohtak
After nearly six months of interim leadership, the DLC State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA), Rohtak, welcomed its new Vice-Chancellor today. Dr. Amit Arya, a distinguished journalist and seasoned media strategist, formally assumed charge as the sixth Vice-Chancellor of the university.
The appointment marks a significant moment for DLC SUPVA, following a regular leadership hiatus since Sh. Gajendra Chauhan remitted office after completing a full three-year term on December 9, 2024.
Dr. Arya signed the joining documents in the presence of Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik and senior faculty members, formally taking over from Prof. Shree Prakash Singh, who had been holding the additional charge of Vice-Chancellor, since January 26, 2025.
Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik extended a warm welcome to Dr. Arya, expressing confidence in his leadership and vision for the university’s future. Dean Academic Affairs Dr Ajay Kaushik, Director IT Dr Seema, Director Public Relations Dr Benul Tomar and all Faculty Heads were also present at the occasion.
In an introductory discussion with the faculty members, Dr. Amit Arya said, "It is an honour to join this unique institution that blends tradition with cutting-edge creativity. I look forward to working with students, faculty, and stakeholders to shape DLC SUPVA into a national model for integrated arts and media education. Our aim will be to make the university not only a centre of excellence but also a space for fearless expression, innovation, and cultural leadership."
Dr. Arya joins DLC SUPVA with over two decades of distinguished service in journalism and strategic communication. Until recently, he served as Senior Consulting Editor with the ITV Network, where he oversaw editorial operations for India News across several northern states. His previous engagements include a pivotal role as Media Advisor to former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. He continued to advise the state leadership in Delhi and Chandigarh for nearly nine years. Dr. Arya later held a national portfolio as Senior Media Consultant to the Government of India, designing public communication strategies for Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Chandigarh.
A native of Haryana and an alumnus of Himachal Pradesh University—where he served as Secretary of the Students' Union—Dr. Arya began his media career in 1994 with BAG Films. His editorial expertise spans leadership positions at several of India’s leading media houses including Dainik Bhaskar, India TV, Live India, P7 News, MH1 News, and India News. He has played a vital role in multiple channel launches and newsroom operations throughout his career.
