“Use AI as a catalyst for innovation while keeping alive the human imagination”- Prof Umesh Arya
The Faculty of Design at Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing & Visual Arts
(DLCSUPVA), Rohtak, is organizing a two-day workshop on “Artificial Intelligence for
Readiness & Advancement (ADIRA)” from September 29–30, 2025, at the Seminar Hall,
Architecture Block.
The workshop is being held under the patronage of Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya and
Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha, with Prof. Umesh Arya, Dean & Chairman, Faculty of
Media Studies, GJUST, Haryana, as the resource person.
Prof. Arya provided students with an insightful overview of Artificial Intelligence, covering its
origins, history, current tools, real-world applications, and future possibilities across
industries. Through interactive exercises, students gained practical exposure to leading AI
tools such as Perplexity, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Notebook LM. He emphasized the
importance of self-learning and continuous skill development, urging students to
independently explore AI to remain in step with technological advancements. While
highlighting its potential, he also cautioned that excessive reliance on AI can undermine
imagination and critical thinking.
He said, “While Artificial Intelligence empowers us to work faster and smarter, it can also
quietly weaken our ability to imagine, to question, and to think critically if we lean on it
blindly. The real challenge for students and professionals is not just to learn how to use AI,
but to learn how to rise above it—using it as a catalyst for innovation while keeping alive the
uniquely human faculties of imagination, curiosity, and wisdom.”
Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya said, “DLCSUPVA is committed to
preparing its students for the rapidly changing digital landscape. This workshop is not only
about understanding AI but also about cultivating the confidence to use it responsibly in
creative and professional contexts.”
The first day of the workshop witnessed the participation of around 120 students from the
Department of Fashion & Lifestyle Design. The second day will involve students from
Fashion Design and Product Design. The sessions sparked enthusiasm among learners eager
to apply AI concepts in academic and creative projects.
Workshop Coordinator Athar Ali remarked, “The Design Academia & Recreation Club took
this initiative to introduce our students to the transformative potential of AI. The
overwhelming response shows how eager the next generation is to blend design thinking
with technological innovation.”
