Introduction

Faculty of Visual Arts

After the State Institute of Fine Arts merged to establish Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts in 2014, the faculty of visual arts became one of the most sought-after departments. Aspiring designers, artists, and philosophers come together to explore, invent, and hone their creative abilities in this hub for the arts. Fostering critical thinking and creativity is at the heart of the Faculty of Visual Arts' aim. It is recommended that students try out various mediums, methods, and theoretical frameworks to have a thorough awareness of art and how it affects society. Students gain both technical proficiency and a nuanced artistic voice through demanding courses, practical studio sessions, critiques, and collaborations with teachers and peers. The Faculty of Visual Arts is a key player in influencing cultural discourse and pushing the frontiers of artistic expression. It provides a venue for talks, workshops, exhibitions, and community engagement programmes that uplift the general public and stimulate discussion of current issues.

The departments of applied art, printmaking, sculpture, painting, animation and multimedia are all included in this faculty. Students are encouraged to express themselves and pursue interests that could lead to business or employment. The faculty provides a PhD course in applied art, an MVA programme in painting and applied art, a BVA curriculum in animation and multimedia, printmaking, painting, and sculpture, as well as a diploma and certificate programme.

Objective of Visual Arts

The goal of visual arts includes various aspects that when taken as a whole add to its importance in society. First and foremost, the goal of visual arts is to convey concepts, feelings, and stories via a variety of media, including multimedia, painting, sculpture, photography, and printmaking. Students aim to elicit a variety of reactions from viewers through the use of visual components including colour, form, texture, and composition, ranging from inspiration and critique to contemplation and empathy. Faculty records historical events, questions social conventions, and uses artistic expression to elevate marginalised voices to reflect cultural identity and socioeconomic challenges.

Opportunities in Visual Arts

For those who are passionate about artistic expression and visual communication, the visual arts provide a variety of opportunities. Individuals in this field can work as fine artists, producing original 2D and 3D artwork. They can specialise in digital and print media advertising, illustration, graphic design, animation, game design, and web design. They can also work in art education, museum curation, art therapy, art conservation, and teaching. Students who want to become academicians can seek higher study in the visual arts.
